Hare Krishna! Come and be a part of this sacred festival at ISKCON Auckland's Sri Sri Radha Giridhari Temple, where you can witness the grand bathing (Abhishek) ceremony of Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Devi.
All guests will have the chance to perform abhishek, at the same time children will have the special opportunity to perform abhishek on their own of our small Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva & Subhadra.
Following the sacred bathing ritual, stay back to witness the Deities take on a unique and delightful form known as ‘Hathi Vesha’ or ‘Gaja Vesha’ in the afternoon. It is during this day, Their Lordships appears to fall ill with a divine fever.
This event is known as Anavasara-lila. During this time Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Devi rest in seclusion during which They are not visible to the public and are attended to with herbal preparations. Meanwhile, devotees meditate on the Lord’s transcendental separation from His devotees before They appear again for Ratha Yatra on Sunday 12th July 2026.
Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva, Subhadra ki jaya!
